Radically Centered on Him

We cannot serve, live, and breathe for the god of self, while being yielded to the King of Kings. Jesus said it best in Matthew 6:24,

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”

As Christians we have been bought with a price. Our lives are not our own. However, so often I find myself living as if it is. I find myself making decisions as if I should be the ruler of my own life. I see what I want and attempt to go after it, before I ask God what HE would have for my life. This is not the life God calls us to live. This is not life more abundant. This is not where peace abounds even in hard times. What does God require of us? God calls us to be radically centered on His glory. I heard this phrase in my devotional the other day and it hit me like a ton of bricks. When God calls us to do something it is for our good and His glory. I believe that life is found in obedience. I believe that God is good and therefore what He calls us to do is good. Consequently, to be centered on His glory for our life is to make Him a priority in all we do and are. Instead of making him an afterthought He becomes what all our other thoughts are built around. I am at a point in my life where I am making decisions everyday. I am making decisions that could impact the rest of my life. I always heard that if you include God in the little decisions, it will make it easier to include Him with the big ones. I do believe that’s true. However, I believe that it’s still a decision. It is a decision that I have to make every day when I wake up in my heart. Is God going to be my first thought or my afterthought? I have learned that no matter what it is, God cares. God deserves first place in my life. He deserves for me to be centered around His glory. BUT He longs to be. He cares about the thoughts and plans I make. He cares what I do that day. He cares what I make of my home. He cares what wedding I have. He cares about all the big things and all the little things because He loves me. He only wants what is best for me. Whether that is found in the refinement of the fire or under His wings. He only wants what is best for you. He is worthy for all our lives to be radically centered around His glory. He is worthy of radical obedience. He is good. & He wants to bless us when we obey Him. I will never stop saying it when we do things GOD’S WAY life more abundant, true freedom, & true peace are found there.
