How to Turn Puzzles into Art

I love puzzles. I find them therapeutic and relaxing. My favorite thing to do with my puzzles is turning them into art. It is a fun and creative process! Here are some steps to help you transform your puzzles into beautiful artwork.

Choose Your Puzzle

Select a puzzle that you love or find visually appealing. I buy from a few different brands. New York Puzzle Company- Loré Pemberton has a stunning collection of jigsaw puzzles. Loré’s artistic vision is deeply rooted in her connection to nature. Woodland creatures, lush landscapes and changing seasons capture the essence of her surroundings in northern Vermont. My other favorite brand is Cavallini Papers & Co. Vintage puzzles. You can’t go wrong with any number of Cavallini Paper & Co. gorgeous vintage inspired puzzles. The puzzles come in a 10-inch tube, with a hand sewn muslin bag. These tubes are great for reusing.

Assemble the Puzzle

If you have a new puzzle, begin by putting it together. This will ensure that the pieces are all intact and in the proper order for your artwork. We have a puzzle board that works as a great surface for building puzzles. It has drawers for sorting your pieces. My daughter always starts with the edge pieces.

Secure the Puzzle

Once the puzzle is assembled, you can use puzzle-preserving glue or Mod Podge to seal it. Apply a thin layer over the surface and allow it to dry. Repeat if necessary for a sturdy finish.

Add a Background or Frame

Decide how you want to display your puzzle art. You can use a canvas, a wooden board, or even frame it. Make sure the surface is clean and dry.

Display Your Artwork

Once everything is dry and in place, find a special spot to hang or display your puzzle art. It can be a conversation starter and a unique addition to your decor.
